![]() But most of the time when they introduce the clear love interest character my mind automatically shuts off because when they make it obvious the romance is probably gonna suck ass. I'm okay with romance if they build it up over time, usually. I hate that bullshit romance in so many stories that goes "I met this person like 5 minutes ago but I'd be willing to let all my life long friends die for them." I cannot stand the trope of "Anything for love." It automatically sours me on whatever I was watching or reading regardless. Fuck off with this kinda story telling, yet I see so much praise online for this. (Spoilers incoming) Dude basically betrays his side cause he just needs to fucking bang this enemy solider chick he met for all of 4 minutes, same goes for her, dude is just so hot she's gotta betray her side to get with him. One example that sticks out with me is an anime: Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team. Character could acquire great power/wealth or choose to try to bang the dude/chick they met in the adventure to find the great wealth/power five days ago. Not only that but the romantic angle seems to always been there to get characters to do something stupid in the name of love they otherwise may not have done. It feels like in so many different movies, tv shows and books I have watched or read so many of them feel the need to shoehorn in a romantic angle to it all. ![]() *Note I'm not taking issue with stories that are actually romantic stories at their core so you can leave out the entire romance genre of course.Īction movies, horror, sci-fi stories or adventure stories.
