Barely louder than a pellet gun, but launching a 180 gr. 300 Sav case on right:īy the way, it sounds great. 300 Sav die in middle, then trimmed to correct length for a finished. of Trail Boss with a little room to spare. 308 which has a lower case capacity, with 12.5 gr. A 308 case will hold a lot more than 10 grains, look at the link I provided above and follow the directions. Out of my 20in AR10 does 1000f/s and very accurate. I use 10.5 g Trail Boss, 180g Hornady flat base round nose bullet, OAL of 2.675 in 308. 220gr round nose with 5 gr of trail boss. I havent located my chrony yet and so I'm very sketchy on shooting something I have no idea of the fps. The most I have been able to get in a case is 6.5gr. If you want to try trail boss, 10 gr would be a good starting point.ġ0gr of Trail boss wont even fit in my case. Hodgdon's website shows 8.0 gr of clays or titegroup for 1080 FPS with a OAL of 2.800 with a Sierra 168gr bullet. Look at titegroup, clays, or trailboss for your subsonics. If you want subsonics you need to use a small charge of fast powder. You're going end up with a squib if your not careful. Bullets are tumbling.Īm I using too heavy a bullet or other wrong components?ĭO NOT use such a low charge of a slow powder for subsonic loads. I'm loading 168gr SMK HPBT with 8.5 gr IMR 4895.
